SEND A CHILD TO THE RANCH PROGRAM
The Camarillo Ranch Foundation’s Mission Statement states, in part, “…to foster its place in the rich history of California; to transform it into a focal point of the community for education, enrichment, and enjoyment; and to exhibit our diverse history and culture.”
In line with our mission statement, the Foundation is proud to provide complimentary school tours to third grade students in Camarillo, and greater Ventura County.
To support School Tours, the Foundation has initiated the “Send a Child to the Ranch” program. This program awards grants that provide $350 toward round-trip school bus transportation to and from the Camarillo Ranch for qualified schools on a first-come-first-serve basis.
School Tour highlights include exploring the 6,000 square foot 1892 Queen Anne Victorian style Camarillo Ranch House and 1905 Mule Barn, learning about how Adolfo managed the 10,000 acre ranch, and discovering how life in Camarillo was over a century ago through educational activities, such as butter making, walnut cracking, roping cattle, planting lima beans and other interactive activities. Click here for more information about School Tours.
For over twelve years the Foundation’s two annual fundraisers, the Car Show & Brew Fest and the Holiday Gala, have helped fund this very important program. The money raised is allocated to the program for bus transportation, tour supplies, and educational work books, which are given to each visiting student. Volunteer School Tour Docents and Guides lead over 35 school tours per year for more than two-thousand children.
